Where we started

David Kimball started his career in real estate in 1972. He owned apartments and land for potential development and was able to put the Old Miles Hotel under option which later David and Victor developed into the historic Peery Hotel. David formed a partnership in 1974 named Proctor & Kimball and later bought out Proctor to create Kimball Investment Company in 1976 as the broker. Victor joined Kimball Investment Company in 1977 and the two brothers became equal partners. David and Victor’s broad experience in developing and marketing commercial real estate has enabled them to accomplish numerous land acquisitions, lease buy-outs, land assemblage, condominium conversions and the development and management of hotels, shopping centers, industrial parks, office buildings, residential subdivisions, and apartments. Their expansive developments can be found in Utah, Nevada, Texas, Idaho, Montana and California.

The Kimballs also have extensive experience in renovation of historic properties. The historic Peery Hotel was restored in 1985 from a dilapidated property to a prestigious boutique property which has received accolades from the Salt Lake City Arts Council and was voted “Most Miraculous Conversion” by the Utah Holiday Magazine. They also renovated, owned, and operated a full service Holiday Inn and the historic Judge Building, which remains a Class A historic office building in downtown Salt Lake City.

The Kimballs have developed and operated hotel franchises in Utah, including Marriott, Hilton, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Quality Inn, Choice, Travelodge, Best Western, as well as independent hotels in Zion National Park, Ojai, Arizona, resort beach property in Oceanside, CA.

Where we are going

After 45 years of doing business together and having their children enter the business, David and Victor separated their partnership. David and his son-in-law, Jayd Petersen, along with Kelly Poppleton who had been with Kimball Investment Company for 25 years created Kimball Development and Management (KDM) with Kelly being the Controller. KDM is in process of renovating a 51 unit apartment complex in Logan, UT and about to break ground on a 20K SF Professional Office Building along with properties they own and acquiring mixed-use developments for development. KDM has also hired Michele Briscoe as Office Manager.
